Paintings

Paintings are normally on canvas with as medium, oil or acrylic paint. They are made by hand and are unique. The style of painting may be different, abstract or figurative, impressionistic or expressionistic, surrealistic, minimalistic and other styles created by different art movements over time. By viewing many styles of painting, one may develop a taste for a certain style and thereby for the art of a particular artist. The collection consists of the following categories of painting:

1.1 TAM AUSTRIA (1943)

Tam Austria was born in Tanay, Rizal. He started with murals and folk genre paintings. He was commissioned a mural for the Sanctuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati. Later he developed his own style in depicting women-figures often with infants in natural surroundings. His paintings are much in demand and fetch high prices.

1.2 RENE ROBLES (1950)

Rene Robles was born in Lucena, Quezon. He was the founder of a new art movement in the 1990's called "assertionism". His art is an act to give essence to ordinary everyday objects. He exhibited abroad already early in his career: USA, Canada, Austria, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Italy. In 1996 he was awarded a Gold Medal of Excellence by the University of Santo Thomas and in 2008 the Thomasian Outstanding Alumni Award. Many books have been published about the artist and his art.

1.3 TITO NOBLEZA (1956)

Tito Nobleza hails from Iloilo and is a most sought after portrait artist and a stalwart in the field of figurative art with folk genre paintings. He painted portraits of many prominent figures in politics and business and various Pope's.

1.4 ROGER CRISOSTOMO (1964)

Roger Crisostomo hails from Manila and took up fine arts at the Far Eastern University but dropped out starting as an artist and running an art gallery. After becoming a full time artist he gained recognition for his art works and since 2009 he won various art competitions as a realist artist. He was commissioned by Iglesia ni Cristo in 2010 to paint to big works for its centennial celebration in 2014. In 2014 he had his first solo exhibit.

1.5 ADLER LLAGAS (1977)

Adler Llagas hails from Baras, Rizal and became a self taught painter of subjects he loves most the Sierra Madre mountains, the fields and the farmers. In 2008 he had his first solo exhibit, followed by another solo in 2012.

1.6 JO FLORENDO (1975)

Jo Florendo was born in Naga City but moved to Tanay and became a self taught painter. He participated in many group shows since 1991 and his favorate subjects are flowers and plants in their natural setting. He is also wellknown for his Koi fish paintings as they convey peace, wealth and welness.

1.7 NOLI PRINCIPE MANALANG (1980)

Noli Manalong hails from Bocaue, Bulacan province. The artist is known for his realistic style in painting with subjects insired by traditional imagery. Many of his artworks are in watercolour, a technique he mastered as no other. In his early years (2001-2005 he received awards in various Filipino art competitions. Today he also paints miniatures on shells.

1.8 BOYSIE VILLAVICENCIO

Boysie is well known as a fashion designer and active in various organizations promoting the arts. Now in the later stage of life he paints and is inspired by corals in various colours and combinations.

1.9 DANNY SANTELISES

After securing a financial basis Danny was able to focus on painting and to develop his favorate style: pointillism. Inspired by nature in particular birds and sea life, he produces colourful paintings in oil.

1.10 KAZUYUKI MOTODA

“Yuki” Motoda hails from Angono, Rizal. He attended the University of Rizal System-Angono and bagged the 1 st prize in the JAV Talent Unlimited Foundation painting competition. Yuki developed his own “primitive” painting style in vibrant colours.

2. PAINTINGS BY THEO ARNOLD

Theo Arnold is well known for painting the successful 'tulipa' series. Inspired by the beauty of the tulip, the national flower of the Netherlands, and the new species which are cultured by Dutch tulip growers, he never gets tired of this subject. In addition he has ventured on new subjects, like the 'dance' series and 'nudes' of which some examples will be on display at his next exhibition in Manila. The paintings of Theo Arnold are all in acrylic on canvas and bright in colour, enhancing the viewer's spirit and wellbeing. Paintings by Theo Arnold can be found in private collections in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, the US and Europe.
